Safety rules

Our focus is to provide good experiences in a safe environment. Please read our safety rules carefully before booking a trip. The safety rules apply to all products and activities owned and offered by Rampen AS, unless otherwise specified. Some products are subject to their own safety rules, which are stated in the reference to the relevant product category.

Safety training

It is strictly forbidden to use the Via Ferrata Ramp without having undergone safety training and understanding all the rules. You must participate in both practical and theoretical training before you can climb. It is your responsibility to follow all instructions and rules carefully.

  1. Use of equipment
    Safety equipment must be used in accordance with instructions given by your guide.

    Via Ferrata: The harness should always be fastened tightly, and if you are unsure whether it is secure, ask for help. Wear a helmet on the descent for extra safety. After the climb, all safety equipment must be returned.

    RIB: It is mandatory to wear a life jacket when you are in one of Rampen's RIB boats.

  2. Age limit
    Via Ferrata: Climbing is permitted for people over 12 years of age. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult, and people under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian before climbing. All participants must weigh over 40 kg.

    RIB: To participate in the activity, participants must be 8 years old.

    For other activities and products, you will find the age limit both in the description and on the corresponding website.

  3. Registration

    You are required to provide correct and up-to-date information about participants in the activity you are participating in, when booking made for yourself and for others.


    Via Ferrata: Registration and signing of a self-declaration are required before the climb. If there are minor participants, guardians must explain the rules to them.

  4. Dangers and risks

    All travel in nature and rough terrain involves a certain amount of risk.


    Via Ferrata: Climbing the Rampen Via Ferrata involves certain dangers and risks. It is important to move calmly and controlled throughout the climb and carefully consider each step for increased safety. Always contact the guide with any questions or other inquiries during the activity.

    RIB: RIB tours at any speed may involve shocks and sudden movements. For safety reasons, participation is not recommended for pregnant women, or for people with back, neck or pelvic problems, or other conditions that may be aggravated by physical exertion.

    It is your own responsibility to report any injuries or ailments you may experience while participating in one of Rampen's offers or activities.

  5. Responsibility and supervision
    Each participant is responsible for their own activity and safety. For minor participants, parents or guardians are responsible for both their own safety and that of the minor. The minor must be closely supervised by an adult throughout the trip.

  6. Use of wire
    The wire must always be used when available, and the carabiners must be attached and locked correctly. Attach the carabiners in opposite directions to each other to avoid accidental misconnections.

  7. Distance and location
    Keep a safe distance from the climber in front of you, especially in high-risk areas. Leave at least an eyeball's distance between each participant. If you are climbing with a minor, you can climb a little closer.

  8. Passing other climbers
    Passing other participants should be done on flat areas with great caution and communication. Do not disconnect from the wire during the pass.

  9. Be aware of loose objects
    Be aware of loose objects such as drink bottles, phones, cameras, backpacks and loose rocks. These can pose a danger to yourself and others following you.

Rampen's products and activities are not suitable for:

  • Persons who may pose a threat to their own or others' safety are not permitted to climb the Rampen Via Ferrata, participate in Rampen's RIB tours, or participate in any of Rampen's other offers and activities.

  • People under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted to climb the Rampen Via Ferrata, participate in Rampen's RIB tours, or participate in any of Rampen's other offers and activities.

  • Pregnant women, people with epilepsy, back and/or neck injuries or heart problems should consult a doctor before considering climbing the Via Ferrata, participating in Rampen's RIB tours, or participating in one of Rampen's other offers and activities.

  • Rampen does not take responsibility for personal belongings brought on activities.

  • Rampen reserves the right to cancel products or activities for safety reasons, such as special or extreme weather conditions or maintenance.

  • The ramp reserves the right to close the climbing route for safety reasons, such as special weather conditions or maintenance.

We recommend using rubber-coated gloves for better friction and protection against the wire when climbing Rampens Via Ferrata.
